One Day AK Clinic

An Introduction to the Combative Kalashnikov. The LMS Defense AK course will teach marksmanship fundamentals, combat stress management, rifle zero, rifle manipulation, ground gun fighting, gear selection, and ongoing self-training tools. All while using the AK platform. This class will also explore the design and history of this legendary battle rifle found throughout the world.
This fast paced, challenging course will enable you to intelligently integrate the Avtomat Kalishnikova into your arsenal of options; helping you to remain the Last Man Standing.

Patrol Rifle - Michigan MCOLES

Students will learn patrol rifle zero, rifle/carbine marksmanship fundamentals, combat stress management, rifle/carbine manipulation, movement, use of cover, fighting from unusual positions, ground gunfighting, an introduction to team tactics, patrol gear selection, set up and deployment, and on going self-training tools.

Home Defense

If ever there is a fight where you MUST be the Last Man Standing, it is a fight within your own home.  Your family depends on you prevailing.  This 2 day Home Defense course will teach you the skills necessary to build a strong, multi-layered defense plan for your home.  You will learn how to develop concentric rings of security, home hardening, safe room set-up, lanes of fire, family member rescues, CQB weapons manipulation, room clearing, low light encounters, police interaction and stress management.  If you use a weapon to defend your home, this course should be on your short-list.

Integrated Combat (FOF) Basic Course

The real reason most of us train is to teach ourselves to gunfight.  Your brain does not know the difference between lessons learned in a real gunfight and lessons learned under stress in a force-on-force situational training session.  Our Force-on-Force course is where you put it all together: stress management, critical thinking, combative skills, shooting and communications.  This course will give you the chance to be in numerous fights for your life, and gain the experience which comes with each, in a safe environment.  This course will make you develop the mental skills needed to be the Last Man Standing. Course fees include UTM weapon rental and ammunition costs.

Dignitary Protection Course Phase Two

The LMS Defense Dignitary Protection Course Phase Two will build on the student’s experiences and training during Phase One.  This intermediate level training includes counter surveillance, advances, risk assessments and route surveys, mission planning and briefs, high risk and low profile motorcade operations, arrivals and departures, high risk and low profile protective formations, protection driving (intermediate), protection combatives, protection shooting (carbine and shotgun), posts and patrols, leadership, and client relations / cultural awareness. This course will include several real-time training exercises.

 Phase Two is intended to be taken as part of our three phase program.

Tuition for this course includes hotel lodging.

Armed Operator Medical Course

Sometimes being the Last Man Standing brings with it the responsibility to treat the wounded or injured.  Our Armed Operator Medical Course will equip you with the skills and self training tools needed to deal with life threatening injuries in the aftermath of a traumatic event.  You will also learn skills and you can use in the event of more mundane injuries involving your family and friends.  You will practice these skills in both a quiet clinical environment and the live fire range.

Introduction to Pistol

The first step to the effective utilization of a handgun for self defense is understanding the fundamentals of the weapon's function and it's safe handling.  The LMS Defense Introduction to Pistol course is designed for the new handgun owner, people who have owned a handgun for a long period of time and have not sought out training, and new shooters.  This one day class will spend the first half of the day concentrating on safety, weapon function and fundamental gunhandling; while the last half of the day focuses on live fire training in handgun shooting fundamentals.Rental pistols are available for this course.

You will learn to take full advantage of this weapon system's power and accuracy at extended ranges. This fast paced, challenging course is built around .308, 30.06, .303, 7.62X54 and similar full power weapon systems.

If you intend to be the Last Man Standing in the fight of your life, you must teach yourself to effectively deal with threats throughout the engagement window of the weapons system.  This means being able to deliver accurate fire out 400 yards.  LMS Defense's Carbine II course will reenforce marksmanship fundamentals, combat stress management, rifle zero, rifle manipulation, movement, use of cover, fighting from unusual positions, accurate fire from between 25 and 400 yards, team tactics and on going self-training tools.

M4 / AR15 Operator's Level Armorer

You don't have immediate access to a qualified armorer?  Ever been stuck in the boonies and have your weapon, or a team-mates weapon, stop working?  The M4 / AR15 Operator’s Level Armorer course will teach the participant all the basic knowledge essential for keeping the M16 series rifle in combat ready status. Topics covered will include the nomenclature and cycle of operation for the M16 series rifle, and how to use this knowledge to diagnose possible problems with your rifle. You will be shown techniques to help prevent malfunctions and proper maintenance of the carbine. You will become skilled at replacing basic parts and repairing your weapon in the field in order to complete your mission.  Course tuition includes an M4 Field Kit, which includes essential tools and spare parts.  Manuals and weapons diagrams will also be provided.

Team Tactics

The LMS Defense Team Tactics course will teach teamwork, weapon manipulation, teamwork, combat stress management, teamwork, movement, 2 man team use of cover, fighting from unusual positions, cognitive combat skills, basic CQB skills, all with a teammate. This fast paced, challenging course will better enable you to use the handgun and rifle as effective fighting tools as part of a two man team. We strongly recommend you take this course with your partner or friends with whom you work or are often out in public.

Wilderness Patrolling and Surveillance

This course is designed for the rural state, local or federal law enforcement officer or team, military unit, private security group or qualified civilian who must conduct patrolling and surveillance operations in a rural environment. It is designed to give the individual and tactical team the basic skills required to conduct successful operations in the rural tactical environment.  Subjects covered in this course include: camouflage, cover and concealment, individual movement, emergency medical, land navigation, hide sites, observation techniques, tracking, team movement and operational planning.  Course objectives include:  

  • Conduct covert “movement to contact” in order to execute a warrant or seizure.
  • Locate the suspects/objective and determine their composition, disposition, strengths, and gaps.

LMS Defense offers private lessons with your choice of our professional instructor cadre. Lessons are 8 hours, and will cover any of the shooting, driving or fighting disciplines which you would like to study. Family Protection Fundamentals

The majority of defensive training revolves around the assumption that the individual is alone or in a team of similarly trained individuals.  Most of the time, the average person does not operate like this; instead spending most of their time with their family.  If presented with a threat, the individual’s primary concern must be the protection of their family. The LMS Defense Family Protection Fundamentals course will teach the individual, couple or family how to implement an aggressive security posture that is both nonintrusive to the family and transparent to the general public; while remaining potently effective against organized attacks and crimes of opportunity.  This course will teach you how to organize into a ‘family protection unit’, with each member having a specific role in the security plan; family unit movement; situational awareness; recognizing potential threats; how to identify avenues of approach and danger areas; exit strategies; conflict resolution and threat mitigation techniques; precision firearms use and post-fight plans.

Firearms Instructor Development

Off Duty Survival

This course is designed for the law enforcement officer; some of whom carry only while on duty, while others carry every waking moment.  This course will work to hone your cognitive processes and actions if you are involved in an off duty enforcement of defense incident.  Topics will include off duty tactics, decision making processes, concealed carry options, deadly force, less lethal options, legal ramifications, policy issues and family protection tactics.  This course will help you begin to develop the mentality and skills necessary to be the Last Man Standing mentally, physically and legally.  This course includes both on the range gun handling skills and reality based training scenerios utilizing UTM.  Tuition includes UTM equipment costs.

Carrizo Creek Range Cleanup Project

LMS Defense is a major sponsor of the Carrizo Creek Range Cleanup Project in San Diego County; scheduled for May 19-20, 2007.  Carrizo Creek is an open use range on BLM land.  After years of neglect and illegal dumping by members of our shooting community, BLM is considering closing the area to shooters.  Carl Gardner, a former Marine and local shooter, has organized a cleanup project at the site in cooperation with BLM, in order to ensure the area stays open to local shooters.LMS Defense is one of the sponsors of the event, and will be providing free training on both days for volunteers to participate in.  The event will also feature food and lots of comraderie.Please visit Carl's website to learn more about the event and to get detailed directions to the event - http://www.carrizocreekrange.org

Larry Vickers Pistol / Rifle Combo Package

Pistol I - Introductory Level 
This class is for shooters who have had at least a basic pistol class either from Vickers Tactical or any other accredited instructor. State concealed carry certification classes specifically do not qualify. Topics covered include basic pistol topics and the following: malfunction drills, shooting on the move as well as strong hand and weak hand shooting. Introduction to timed fire drills and evaluations based on class skill level. Concealed carry methods are also covered. Night-fire will depend on time of year and range restrictions. Carbine I – Introductory Level
For shooters who have had at least a basic carbine class either from Vickers Tactical or any other accredited instructor. Topics covered include basic carbine topics and the following: malfunction drills and shooting on the move as well as transitions. Introduction to timed fire drills and evaluations based on class skill level. Nightfire will depend on time of year and range restrictions. Class equipment is the same as the carbine basic with the addition of a weapon mounted flashlight and service pistol (minimum 9mm para caliber). Ammo requirement is 1000 rounds plus 150 rounds pistol.

Defensive Medicine

The Defensive Medicine course will teach you to effectively manage life threatening injuries resulting from a traumatic event until professional emergency medical services arrive.  Topics of instruction include bleeding control, airway management, shock and brain injuries and other medical issues likely to arise in the aftermath of a life threatening attack or other critical incident.  Do you dedicate as much time to training for the treating of wounds as you do to the inflicting of them?  The life you save will probably be your own or that of a family member.

Close Quarters Combatives Scenarios (CQCS)

Sometimes the Last Man Standing must fight with their hands before they can access their weapon. 

This reality-based course will focus on building empty hand combative skills that will enable you to gain access to your primary weapon.  We will cover the fundamentals of striking at contact distances, basic survival techniques from various positions, essential edged weapon defense, empty hand weapon retention and ground survival.  We will then validate these skills with several force-on-force scenarios. 

All of the material covered is based on a building block approach, ensuring commonality of technique and ease of application.  This course is designed to be a primer to personal defense concepts and provide some foundations for our firearms courses.

Vehicle Defense

How much of your life do you spend in a vehicle?  If you are a commuting citizen, quite a bit.  If you are an active law enforcement officer, about 3/4 of your career is spent in a vehicle.  The Vehicle Defense Course is designed to train the student in life saving skills and tactics in, on and around vehicles. This course consists of one day of driving and one day of shooting.  You will learn to use your car as a weapon, and you weapon around your car.  The course includes hands on driver training in high speed vehicle maneuvers, backing, PITT avoidance, ramming and slow speed defensive maneuvering.  The shooting portion of the course focuses on defensive shooting from and around the vehicle and an extensive vehicle ballistics lab.

    This course is designed to provide an introduction to the skill sets necessary for effective low light and no light engagements.  Instructional areas include equipment selection, rifle and pistol mounted lights,  low light tactics, techniques and procedures, NVG use in open area and CQB environments, close quarters and area searches in low light and no light situations,  IR illumination,  weapon mounted visible and IR laser utilization, and reduced visibility situational awareness activities.  This course includes both live fire and force on force exercises.

    Trooper Challenge 2008

    Chappy's Carbine Clinic

    The Carbine Clinic is an opportunity for the experienced carbine operator to hone fundamental weapon handling and marksmanship skills in a fast paced, challenging learning environment.  Topics covered include fine tuning of weapon handling TTP’s, unusual shooting positions and rests, multiple target engagements at distance and effective employment as part of a two person team; all with demanding shot placement standards. 

    Bring a zero'd weapon, you will not have time to zero in the class.

    Officer Rescue Tactics and Command (O.R.T.a.C.)

    The Officer Rescue Tactics and Command course is designed for members of Law Enforcement, Security and the Military to prepare them for a downer operator scenario.  Through instruction in marksmanship fundamentals, combat stress management, rescue techniques, movement, use of cover and fighting from unusual positions.  Additionally there will be an introduction to team tactics as well as providing care under fire and other life saving options when faced with a downed officer.  Gear selection and on-going self training tools will be addresses as well.  This fast paced, challenging course will enable you to intelligently integrate care under fire in to your daily patrol duties.

    Active Shooter Response

    This course will cover the response to an active shooter by the lone patrolman or partners. Subject matter will include building searches, marksmanship fundamentals with a long gun and handgun, gear selection for duty, and active shooter characteristics and history.There will be live fire scenario based practical excercises.

    Unlike most active shooter courses offered, this course is directed towards the patrolman. Students will learn how to quickly and effectively search a building by themselves . Most courses offered are geared towards the response by SWAT Team members. We pick up where those classes leave off. 

    This course is very fast paced and very physical. Students are expected to be proficient with their weapons systems prior to arriving. Zero's should be verified prior to arrival for course.

    This course will be held at the Albuquerque Tac Range.

    The LMS Defense Shotgun Clinic is designed to provide the novice and experienced shooter with a fundamentals primer on the combat shotgun. Skills covered include weapon setup and gear, fighting positions, weapon manipulation, recoil management and reloading -- lots and lots of reloading. 

    Novice students will leave the class with a fundamental understanding of the shotgun and itsʼ general employment, while the experienced shotgunner will leave with his shotgun skills tuned and brought up to date.

    CQB Instructor Course

    The LMS Defense CQB Instructor course is a 7-day instructor level program focusing on modern CQB operational techniques, tactics, procedures and equipment.  Upon successful completion, students will be certified to develop curriculum and teach small teams the fundamental individual skills and team tactics required for safe operation in the close quarters environment.  Subjects include Principal Recovery and Extraction techniques, Active Shooter and Multiple Ambush – Complex Attacks (MAC TAC) Response, dynamic entry and clears, deliberate search techniques, NFDD certification, CBRN and SCBA CQB techniques, night vision / IR laser integration, close quarters precision marksmanship, and unconventional terrain CQB. 


    Reality based training projectiles will be used in this course.
    Firearms and tactics instructors, SWAT trainers and operators, military combat arms instructors, security contractors and professional warriors are encouraged to attend.

    This class will focus on longer range engagements (50-150 yards), unconventional shooting positions, shooting on the move, rifle to handgun transitions, combat stress management, and multiple target engagement.

    You may use whatever carbine you will use in the fight, this means AR-15 platforms, AK/ WASR, M1A etc.  This class is also Ca. compliant carbine friendly so don't hesitate to sign up.
